Oregon Lakes Association Annual conference

October 25-26, 2019 at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes, Bend, Oregon

Register Draft Agenda

The Oregon Lakes Association will be holding our Annual Lakes Conference October 25-26 at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes in Bend Oregon. With a diverse array of nearby lakes and reservoirs, Bend is an ideal location to learn about, and appreciate, our still waters while enjoying world-renowned distilleries, breweries, and restaurants.

Oral and poster presentations that kick off mid-day on Friday, October 25th and end mid-day on Saturday the 26th will cover a broad range of topics such as harmful algae blooms, water quality, lake and watershed restoration, aquatic invasive species, nutrient cycling, climate change, hydrology, and fauna and flora. Although high desert and mountain lakes are the focus of the conference, other types of lakes and reservoirs will also be covered (see the draft agenda).

Friday evening activities will include the RSVP, invite only (watch your inbox for the invite) presentation "Ecosystem Function and Water Management in the Upper Deschutes River Basin" by Jason Gritzer, Hydrologist, US Forest Service and Jen O'Reilly, Biologist, US Fish and Wildlife Service.  This Deschutes River Conservancy co-sponsored RSVP event will be held at 10 Barrel East Side pub.  Appetizers will be provided - with a suggested donation to cover costs.

The conference will conclude on Saturday afternoon with an optional field trip to three of the beautiful local mountain lakes to discuss geology, hydrology, and biology (the field trip is full, but you can add yourself to the wait list when you register). Field trip leaders will include Dr. Daniele McKay, geologist, University of Oregon, Kyle Wright, hydrologist, US Forest Service, and Thomas Walker, fish biologist, US Forest Service. Space is limited on the tour vans, so register early.

Early registration rates are available through September 29th.  A limited number of reduced rate reservations are available at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes for Friday night so don't hesitate to make your reservation. Other accommodations are available throughout the Bend area.

If you have questions about conference sponsorship, presentation topics, or anything else, please contact our conference chairperson, Toni Pennington at TPennington@esassoc.com.

See you all in Bend!
