CALL FOR PAPERS and POSTERS
Theme: From lakes and reservoirs to vernal pools and oxbows
You're invited to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation at the 2016 Oregon Lakes Association’s annual conference scheduled for October 14th - 16th in The Dalles, Oregon. The theme of this year’s conference is “From lakes and reservoirs to vernal pools and oxbows” and we will explore the diversity of ponded waterbodies throughout the state ranging from Willamette River oxbows to mountain lakes. Since reservoirs play such an important role in the hydrology and ecology of the Columbia River Gorge, these systems will be the primary focus of the conference. Other topics of interest include: Harmful algal blooms Invasive aquatic species Lake and watershed management Submission Requirements: Submit abstracts online through www.OregonLakes.org by September 2, 2016. Include your presentation title, author(s) noting student authors, preference of an oral or poster presentation, and an abstract of 300 words/3,000 characters or less. Oral presentations will be 20 minutes (15 min plus 5 min for discussion) and Microsoft Windows based computer and projector will be available presentations. Tables and/or poster boards will be provided for non-oral presentations. Please note that accepted presenters must register for the conference through a separate registration. Rates range from $35 to $125 based on membership status (e.g. Student to Non-Member). Sponsorship opportunities are also available! Sponsors will receive a booth, registration for one attendee, and bonus advertising packages through Lake Wise our newsletter.Preliminary Schedule Friday Evening - October 14th Science on Tap - Join us at Spookys Pizza Restaurant, 3320 West 6th Street in The Dalles as we kick off this year's conference with a Science on Tap. Event is free and open to the public. Saturday 8-5 - October 15th Our journey through Oregon's ponded waters stops at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum where we will have a full day of talks & poster sessions along with plenty of time to explore the museum and visit with friends and colleagues. Talks will be headlined by a plenary presentation on Lake Billy Chinook and the Deschutes River by Bob Spatehols, Senior Aquatic Biologist, PG&E.
